My passion for drones took some time to take off. I watched my brother, Lucas, for years before I finally grew a love seeing how landscapes and cities changed from the sky and found myself needing to document me. I knew I was ready for a career change late 2021 so that’s when Lucas and I first joined forces to start Dearborn Drone Co.
Since 2016, my professional experience has been in the mechanical engineering field and primarily focused on fasteners in a variety of OEM applications. This included custom manufacturing, testing, quality documentation, application, and failure analysis. I managed multiple fastener projects within my region for National OEM clients spanning 6 years which ended with a large hardware implementation for a now $24 million dollar a year customer (and growing). Although I am no longer in that position/company, I have a lot of experience to bring from it and to provide to the drone industry.
Lucas Dearborn
Co-Founder, Chief Technology Officer, & FAA Certified Pilot
My passion for drones started in 2016 once I realized how much computer systems and video games related to the industry. My craft of understanding computer mechanics with a passion for first person view games, was finally realized in one product. The first few years, I was deeply involved with racing which later led to my first drone company, FPVenture. After a few years working independently, I decided to rebrand with my sister to create Dearborn Drone Co.
I have extensive experience in multiple drone industries such as precision agriculture, infrastructure inspections, disaster response, and production to name a few, but found I am most passionate about providing aerial solutions for cinematography and creative filming. My piloting skills are partnered with my ability to build, adjust and maintain custom aerial systems.
